Acting together to build a positive safety and health culture
At Arcus, health and safety has always been our top priority for our colleagues and customers. Today, 28 April 2022, we are raising awareness for the International Labour Organisations, World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an annual campaign, which promotes the prevention of work-related accidents and injuries. This year, 2022, the topic is ‘Act together to build a positive safety and health culture’, which explores the theme of participation and social dialogue in creating a positive safety and health culture.
For Arcus our focuses are:
- Involve our workforce – We want all colleagues to be able to communicate efficiently, in all areas and remits and at all levels.
- Consult our workforce – It is important that we are transparent with our colleagues and open to all views with a flexible approach.
- Engage our workforce – We use all types of forums at all levels; we however want colleagues to challenge the format if they believe they can get better results.
- Keep things Dynamic – Whilst we have specific meetings and report frequencies, it is important that our colleagues aren’t afraid to speak up and conduct additional engagement sessions when needed.
For us, here at Arcus FM, safety and health, also means that our colleagues have the confidence to say when they feel unsafe with their approach to a job so that we can work together to develop a new method and ensure they can complete the work with the minimum amount of risk.
We pride ourselves on making sure that our people feel safe and secure in their work, enabling them to focus their attention on delivering to the highest standards. When our people are confident and feel safe in their role, they shine.
