Award-winning facilities management company, Arcus FM, is supporting World Mental Health Day (Thursday 10 October), by raising awareness of mental health issues in the workplace and offering support to its colleagues.
Recently, as part of its Health and Wellbeing strategy, the organisation launched its new initiative and began training colleagues in Mental Health First Aid. The two-day course educates colleagues on how to support an individual until professional help is available.
Arcus FM worked with BeneFIT Health & Wellbeing, who trained 27 colleagues from across the organisation to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill-health. They’ve been equipped with the skills to listen, support and respond to someone who is going through a difficult time.
Samantha Lambton, HR Operations Director for Arcus, explains: “We’re an organisation that prides itself on our health and wellbeing programme and mental health is just as important as physical health. That’s why training colleagues as Mental Health First Aiders was a high priority for Arcus.
“With a growing organisation which currently stands at over 4,000 people, equipping colleagues with the tools to be able to support each other is so important.”
