LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

At Arcus FM, we believe that investing in people is key to delivering outstanding facilities management services. Our Learning & Development (L&D) programme is designed to empower our teams, close critical skills gaps, and ensure the long-term success of our customers’ estates. By fostering career progression and continuous learning, we enable our colleagues to thrive in fulfilling careers while equipping them with the expertise needed to maintain, enhance, and future-proof your assets.

A CULTURE OF CONTINUOUS LEARNING

Our L&D programme is built to drive performance through learning, ensuring that all colleagues, from engineers to leadership teams, have access to the skills and knowledge required to excel. We focus on embedding a strong learning culture across the business, supporting leadership and talent development, and enabling succession planning and career progression. Training is designed to enhance performance, offering tailored support to colleagues in their day-to-day roles. We achieve this by providing a variety of learning options, including face-to-face training, coaching and mentoring, and eLearning courses.

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY

Compliance and safety are at the heart of everything we do. Our mandatory training ensures that all colleagues meet essential regulatory and business requirements. Delivered via e-learning through The Learning Space, these courses are automatically assigned based on job roles, making it simple for colleagues to stay up to date with their training.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Our professional development programmes are designed to help colleagues grow and progress within their careers. We offer a mix of face-to-face training, virtual learning, and self-paced development pathways. This flexible approach ensures colleagues can access learning at a time that suits them, enabling continuous development while maintaining operational efficiency.

TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR INDUSTRY-LEADING EXPERTISE

Technical training is an essential part of our commitment to service excellence. Our courses cover a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building fabric services. Delivered through a blend of online modules and hands-on practical sessions, these programmes ensure our engineers and technicians have the specialist skills needed to maintain and future-proof our customers’ estates.

Many of our technical training courses are City & Guilds Assured, demonstrating our commitment to global quality standards. Our Health & Safety e-learning courses are RoSPA Assured, ensuring the highest level of compliance and safety training for all colleagues.

National Training Centre

THE NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE: A £500,000 INVESTMENT IN SKILLS

To support the development of our engineering workforce, Arcus FM has invested £500,000 in a state-of-the-art National Training Centre in Stevenage. This 17,000 sqft facility is designed to mirror real-world customer environments, allowing our engineers to train in conditions that reflect the challenges they will face on the job.

The training centre provides hands-on learning across a range of disciplines, including:

  • Refrigeration & HVAC: FGAS, CO₂, and BMS diagnostics
  • Building Fabric: Carpentry, plumbing, masonry
  • Specialist Services: Shutters, gates, and auto doors

The facility plays a crucial role in ensuring our engineers achieve industry-leading first-time fix rates, reducing disruption and improving efficiency for our customers.

DRIVING EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (ED&I) AND SOCIAL VALUE

Our Learning & Development function extends beyond technical training. The team also leads our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) and Social Value strategies, helping to build a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve. By supporting individuals from underrepresented backgrounds—including ex-military personnel, care leavers, and those with learning difficulties—we create meaningful career opportunities and drive long-term positive change.
