Arcus FM has released its fourth annual Sustainability Impact Report, showcasing its commitment to environmental leadership in facilities management. Covering the 2023/24 fiscal year, the report highlights Arcus’s substantial progress in emissions reduction, waste recycling, and fleet electrification; positioning the company as an industry leader in sustainable practices.
Aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Arcus FM is committed to establishing rigorous near- and long-term emissions reduction targets. The company aims to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 and achieve a 90% reduction by 2040, with these targets currently undergoing detailed validation by the SBTi to align with the latest climate science.
In the coming year, Arcus will continue advancing improvements as part of its Net Zero Pathway. This commitment to science-based targets underscores the company’s dedication to long-term environmental impact reduction, operational resilience, and supporting customer sustainability objectives.
Building on a previous recycling rate of 65%, Arcus achieved a 71% recycling and reuse rate this year, with only 3.86% of waste directed to landfill. This accomplishment underlines the company’s dedication to a circular economy and sustainable waste practices across its service operations.
In addition, Arcus has bolstered its green fleet by ordering 50 new electric vehicles for deployment in the coming year. This investment supports Arcus’s sustainability goals while enhancing service efficiency for customers across the UK.
Stephen Saunders, Chief Operating Officer at Arcus FM said:
“By setting ambitious emission reduction targets and enhancing our waste management practices, we are not just meeting industry standards but leading the way in sustainable facilities management. Sustainability is a shared responsibility at Arcus, and our commitment includes supporting our people and the communities we serve.”
