Arcus FM has released its 2024–25 Sustainability Impact Report, outlining sustained progress across carbon reduction, waste management, safety performance and colleague wellbeing.
Sustainability remains embedded across the organisation’s operations, aligned to seven UN Sustainable Development Goals and supported by validated Science Based Targets initiative. The business has committed to reducing absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 42% by 2030 and by 90% by 2040, using a 2022 baseline.
This year’s report highlights measurable improvements across key areas. Scope 1 emissions fell by 4.7% year on year, while energy intensity reduced by 12.6% compared to the previous reporting period.
Investment in fleet electrification continued, with 50 additional electric vehicles introduced and a significant increase in grey fleet mileage driven in battery electric cars.
Arcus also strengthened its approach to waste reduction and circular economy. Only 3.8% of total waste was sent to landfill, with 96.2% diverted from disposal or recycled.
Health and safety performance also improved, with Accident Frequency Rates decreasing from 20.06 to 17.99 and RIDDOR Frequency Rates falling from 2.02 to 1.37.

Chris Green, Chief Executive Officer at Arcus FM, said:
“Sustainability continues to shape how we operate as a business and how we support our customers. This year’s report reflects consistent progress across emissions, resource use and safety, alongside the steps we are taking to build long term resilience. Having our near term and net zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative is an important milestone and reinforces our commitment to transparent, measurable change.”
Alongside environmental performance, the report outlines progress in social value, colleague development and wellbeing. The business supported 143 individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds into employment and expanded its network of social value partners to 23.
Arcus also reported a reduction of 159,882 GJ in energy consumption through efficiency interventions delivered for customers across the year.

Vicky Downham, HSQE Director at Arcus FM, added:
“This report shows the value of consistent focus and shared responsibility across the business. From emissions monitoring and fleet transition to safety improvements and waste reduction, the progress we have made is the result of clear standards and strong engagement from colleagues and partners. Our priority now is to keep building on these foundations and continue improving performance year on year.”
The report covers the period April 2024 to March 2025 and provides a transparent overview of Arcus FM’s environmental, social and governance activity, performance and future priorities.
