How long have you been at Arcus FM?

I came to Arcus via TUPE in January 2011 so just over ten years.

Tell us about your role.

I am part of a small senior team where the main part of my role is to ensure the clients’ estate is kept safe, legal, and compliant at all times. This is done via the management of KPIs, regular meetings with the client to discuss any issues or concerns.

I feel communication is key in order to keep delivering a great service. I was also part of the team that was successful in the bid for one of our food retailers’ distribution contracts.

In order to achieve our goals, we are encouraged to share our ideas within the team so they can be discussed openly, my line manager really believes this helps us become a more successful team as well as keeping us engaged and motivated.

When I joined Arcus, I was given the opportunity to become a depot facilities manager at Allington, the site I was currently working at as an engineer. In 2012 I was offered the opportunity to open the new Thameside depot, purpose built to serve one of our client’s growing convenience store market, here I was able to further my knowledge and enhance my management skills.

In 2016 I was then given the chance to open and run the first online fulfilment centre at Bromley-by-Bow which was a real honor for me. After two years I was successful in becoming a zone manager within the distribution team and have been in this role for three and a half years.



How does your role help to make a difference to our clients?

Being part of a great team helps to make a difference to Arcus, the distribution team, I believe, has turned out the highest KPI reward into Arcus for the past three years.

As a team we are tasked with innovation and cost savings by the client, some of these are achieved through increased self-delivery. I have played a key part of upskilling the depot maintenance technicians in order to achieve this.

As a team we are very passionate about empowering our own people and investing in them.

What learning and development opportunities have you taken advantage of?

I was fortunate enough to be enrolled on Arcus’ Advance talent program, from this I gained a better understanding of myself and made some great connections within other parts of the business.

The course made me more self-aware and gave me greater self-confidence. I was able to gain more insight into my current role from the incumbent zone manager at the time, I had asked for their time to discuss the role and what it entailed, which gave me a better understanding of the role I was applying for.

What’s the one thing you love most about working at Arcus FM?

The one thing I love about working for Arcus is that I am empowered by my line manager to make my own decisions, as a team we champion this approach throughout the department which adds to our success.
