SOCIAL VALUE

At Arcus, we believe that every business has a responsibility to contribute positively to local communities. Social Value is one of our five strategic pillars and a core element of our mission to deliver “outstanding FM services – technology-led, people-driven.” This commitment drives us to give back and leave a positive, lasting impact on society.

OUR APPROACH TO SOCIAL VALUE

We define Social Value (SV) as “the act of giving back to our communities and to society, leaving it better off because of our interventions.”

Our commitment statement is simple yet impactful: “We at Arcus FM recognise that we reflect the wider community in which our business exists, and we will play our part in contributing to the health of our communities.”

Our social value strategy focuses on two main areas: Employability and Community.

SUPPORTING EMPLOYABILITY

We prioritise creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, particularly:

  1. Young people, especially care leavers.
  2. Individuals serving or recently released from prison.
  3. Ex-service personnel.
  4. People with health conditions.

As an inclusive employer, we understand the transformative impact that employment can have on individuals within these groups. When direct employment is not possible, we offer pathways to improve employability, including work experience placements and tailored career advice.

Our initiatives to encourage engagement include:

  • Hosting career fairs, employer talks, and visits to schools, colleges, and prisons.
  • Partnering with social value organisations and our customers to create meaningful employability opportunities for those in our priority groups.

BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES

As a national FM provider, we are dedicated to fostering healthy, resilient communities across the UK. Through our Arcus in the Community (AitC) scheme, we make donations to causes nominated by our colleagues, prioritising those that align with our social value goals or have a personal connection to our team members.

Key community initiatives include:

  • Annual Christmas Raffle: Each year, funds raised support a chosen charity, with Arcus matching the contributions to support AitC.
  • National Campaigns: We align our efforts with national initiatives, such as foodbank drives and Macmillan Cancer Support.
  • Community Participation: Working with our Marketing and Communications team, we support events like Armistice Day and National Care Leavers Week. Colleagues are encouraged to volunteer and contribute their skills to support community-based social value projects.

At Arcus FM, we’re committed to fostering meaningful social value, and we’re dedicated to working with our customers, partners, and communities to make a real difference. Through every project and partnership, we continue to prioritise the wellbeing and resilience of our communities, ensuring that our work leaves a lasting, positive impact.
